Predicting Research Productivity among Librarians at the National Open University of Nigeria: Evaluating the Influence of Thinking Skills

Abstract

Abstract\r\nThis study investigated the influence of thinking skills on research productivity among librarians in National Open University of Nigeria. The study employed a survey research design. The population of the study comprised of the entire population of 54 librarians. The sample size of the study is all the 54 librarians because the manageable number of the population. The data for the study was collected with the aid of a self-structured questionnaire. The collected data were analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. All these analyses were done with the aid of SPSS software. The study found that the level of thinking skills and research productivity of librarians in National Open University of Nigeria is moderate. The study also found that thinking skills had significant influence on research productivity of librarians in National Open University of Nigeria. The study made the following recommendations thus: Librarians in National Open University should improve their problem-solving abilities, decision-making processes, creativity, and overall cognitive functioning to reach the highest level of think skills and librarian in National Open University should engage more in conducting research and make their findings publish in reputable outlets to improve their research productivity.\r\n
